In the summer of 2010, *Gee-Gee, a sweet but kind-of-serious 10-year-old girl took part in a training program for children called "Good Boy Good Daughter" at TawSaeng. One of the things she learned was what to do if a person attempted to touch her in a place they shouldn’t (Thailand is a destination for pedophiles and human trafficking). Ironically, shortly after this program, her mother was approached by an elderly westerner who wanted to have intimate relations with Gee Gee. This morally-bankrupt person offered the poverty-stricken woman some expensive gifts to sweeten the pot and, blinded by the lure of sudden financial gain, the mother agreed. When Gee-Gee was taken to the man’s apartment, however, she would have nothing to with his advances. She broke free, found a phone and dialed the Thai Police hotline number (which she had memorized at TawSaeng). The police quickly arrived and arrested the pedophile. Praise God for this timely intervention and His protection of this alert child.

**Amanda, a 14-year-old student in the TawSaeng children’s program recently lost her mom. After also losing her dad a year ago she is a true orphan. She has no family to go to, and no identification to help her navigate life here in Chiang Mai. What can life offer her at her now empty home in her slum? Where can she turn to for help? So many girls her age are lured into sexual exploitation following tragedies like this. Through TawSaeng's staff and volunteers, Amanda is being embraced by a caring community that has totally loved on her during the early days losing her dad and have not stopped loving on her since. And, she's learning that she actually does have a true citizenship. As a growing follower of Jesus Christ, she has a home in heaven!
